RE: Winnebago windsheild fans

Here in the desert we have them aimed at the windshield, not at the driver and passanger as one person said. they lare used to move the superheated air that gathers at the windshield when the sun is hitting it. Before I installed mine I had trouble feeling any cold air hitting me when the AC unit was on. When you move some of that hot air around it feels cooler in there. Of course the DW says if I stopped talking for a while it would cut down on most of the hot air.

RE: will 20 AMPS BE SUFFICIENT

Use what you have. At the most all you are going to do is pop the 20 amp breaker, that won't hurt anything. Reset it and cut down the load. It should work good. I ran mine alongside the house for quite a while on a 20 amp breaker. I finally changed over and have a dedicated 30 amp system for my MH.

RE: Satellite Internet - Are there downsides to a dish on the RV

I haven't had a problem yet with my roof mounted dish. And I've been in some areas that had lots of trees.

RE: Toilet Papers

Use whatever you use at home, we do. Frankly I think this whole "special rv paper" thing is a scam. Think about it, the TP is just going going to sit in the tank for a short period of time, then get dumped.
I have heard this paer/water/har test over the years and have to ask...where did this get started? Black tank safe? TP is TP.
Use what you but is used to, use plenty of water when flushing and dumping. Save that money for more beer.
-rog
TP might be TP, but you really do need the TP to break down, otherwise you wind up with large pieces sticking to the level sensors and you wind up fighting to get the level sensors to work right. If you use a good brand of TP that breaks down easily they you can keep your sensors working better and the black water empties out of the tank easier. The other thing to think about is sometimes you are dumping into a septic system ( not all RV parks are on city sewer systems) and we do want to be RV park friendly.

RE: yamaha 2400 generator

Keep it covered. You never know what that water is going to get into. Generators are too big of an expence to play around with. Get a small inexpensive tent if you have to.

RE: Hospitals and RVs

Good to hear some hospitals do this. We have again been at UCLA for two weeks now with our daughter and was here for 2 1/2 months at the beginning of the year. Wish we had a space here for our RV.
Have you asked them if they had someplace that you could stay in your RV?

RE: Breed bans at campground question

They can't just say " no pit bulls", because they now have about 6 different names for pit bulls and they would have to list all of them. And this way they don't have to list wolves either.

RE: Upgrade Nightmare

They couldn't have transfered the title without having Associated Bank signing the title off. If the title was signed off then I don't think that the bank can hold you responsible. If the bank signed the title off then they would probably have to eat the extra $1500. It seens like the dealer has your old unit in hiding somewhere. Find a good attorney.

RE: AC on 20 amp service?

It works for me as long as the frig is on propane and the electric water heater is off. The AC unit doesn't take that much power to run it.

RE: Portable hot tub while truck camping?

Who's going to stand guard on the hot tub when you leave the campsite to make sure that some little kids don't drown in it, and who is going to pay for the insurance? I have one in my yard at my stick house and worry about this one and it's behind a 6 foot fence.

RE: Which One? Honda or Yamaha

It's a name thing. Most of us who have one probably think that ours is best. I have two Honda's but I think that Honda and Yamaha are both good. Brand name doesn't mean much to me. Look at noise level at idle and at full load, then look at price and availability before you buy.

RE: Generator in the basement?

My question is what good is it going to do for us to discuss this over and over. It is up to this guys friend ( The OP ) to inform his friend how angerous it is. It isn't up to us because he probably doesn't even read RV.net and if he does he won't recognize that it's him that we are talking about.

RE: Generator surge question

You won't get much of a surge out of a 2000w Honda generator. It is really only putting out 1800w, it goes up to 2000w only for short periods then the unit will reset itself and shut off. A 13.3 Amp surge shouldn't hurt anything.

One mean grade coming out of Needles, but other than that there is smooth sailing, just a lot of heat and very small grades.

RE: Ventura County beach camping

You are probably talking about Rincon Parkway. They charge somewhere around $25. per night and there is no hookups of any kind. If you use your portable generator you have to keep it chained up and watched closely. crooks drive down the road and use bolt cutters to cut the chains and drive off with generators. The Rangers will usually stop and tell people that even chained up the Gen sets are not safe. But it is a nice beach arrea and we do go there as much as we can. The rangers do monitor the campsites closely. They carry a clipboard with all your info on it from when you signed in. Whatever time you arrived today you have to leave tommorrow. It is hard to get a site there unless you arrive on a Monday or Tuesday.

RE: aerosol cans

The only thing that you have to worry about is your microwave popcorn. Really high temperatures will spoil the butter ( oil ) that they use in the packages. That's the only thing that I remove from my MH when the unit is not in use in the summer.

First offramp in Arizona is a truck stop, I believe it's a Flying J. that should be a good place to stop if you are concerned about safety, but noisy.

RE: Satellite TV at home and road

I heard something about if you have a extra receiver after a while of being turned off, it loses its connection to the account and you have to call in and get it turned back on as such. Is this correct?
The newer method, that works is to push the reset button next to the card. That usually gets my receiver going again. I used to have to call in everytime but not lately.

RE: New to Sat TV, what do I need to buy??

Contact Directv and tell them what you want. They will have to run two cables to the TV that you want the DVR on because it needs two cables from the satelite in order to record programs.
